Tai Chi - Tuesdays

Tai Chi - Tuesday

Tai Chi teaches students to overcome hardness with softness while engaging in a full-body workout that will improve balance, increase strength and flexibility, burn fat, and relax both the body and mind.

This class will also explore martial applications, self-defense techniques, and the rich history and culture of Chinese martial arts.

This class is ongoing and open to students of all ages and fitness levels. Classes will typically begin with joint loosening and light stretching to loosen up the body, followed by a qigong routine to get the qi (life energy) flowing and prepare students for the flowing movements of Tai Chi and other Chinese martial arts. Instruction will include both group practice and one-on-one time with the instructor to allow students of all skill levels to learn and improve together.

Styles and forms taught in this class include the Yang style 24 short form, the Yang style 88 long form, Tai Chi sword, Chen Tai Chi, Bagua, and others.

All that you have to bring is a desire to learn, relax, and have fun!

Class Time: Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30pm
Cost: $12 per class drop-in or $10 per class prepaid

Parent / Toddler Yoga

Toddler yoga by Playful Poppies Learning Co. is a place for you to bond with your busy little one as they improve balance/coordination and lay a foundation for age-appropriate yoga postures through fun games, songs, and creative movement with their favorite grown-up—you! Beginners welcome, no prior yoga experience required!

This group is designed for children crawling to 36 months. (Older children can join us in the Playful Poppies Kid’s Yoga classes!) Classes are offered as a single date pop-up class or multi-week class series with set start and end dates.

The primary focus of this class is supporting and bonding with our toddlers as they practice developmentally-appropriate movement. Some grown-up yoga postures will be included in the session so adults can get enjoy some self-care as well. Poses are appropriate for all levels of experience and can be modified for pregnant or postpartum mamas too!

Dress comfy, bring your yoga mat, and prepare for a fun 30 to 40-minute session that will help you bond and play with your little one in a unique way!

Parent / Child Yoga

Kids yoga (for ages 3 years - 12 years) by Playful Poppies Learning Co. focuses on supporting our “big kids” as they practice age-appropriate yoga poses, basic breathing exercises, and social skills through creative movement. Partner poses and games are incorporated throughout the class to promote caregiver/child bonding in a playful way! Because our yogis are becoming more active and agile, many of the yoga postures in these classes look very similar to adult yoga poses—so caregivers can enjoy some self-care as well. Poses are appropriate for all levels of experience and can be modified for pregnant or postpartum mamas too. Beginners welcome, no prior yoga experience required!
This group is structured for children ages 3 and up! (We suggest ages 3-12.) Some segments of this class will require more active participation and cooperation. For this reason, we suggest that children joining this class be able to follow simple two-step directions (such as “pick up the ball and pass it to me”). Classes are offered as a single date pop-up class or multi-week class series with set start and end dates.
Dress comfy, bring your yoga mats, and prepare for a fun 30 to 40-minute session that will help you bond and play with your little one in a unique way!

Pole Fitness - Intro to Pole Dancing

A fun alternative to going to the gym!
This class is mandatory for all first time pole dancers. In this class we will focus on the basics of pole dancing such as climbing up and down, flexibility, basic spins, and dance moves.

Pole fitness is both an aerobic and anaerobic workout. It uses your own body weight as resistance which helps prevent health problems, builds and maintains muscle mass, boosts metabolism, and increases bone strength and density.

You get an aerobic workout by consistently and rhythmically using large muscles which aids in losing weight and keeping it off. It strengthens your heart, keeps arteries clear, and boosts mood by reducing depression and promoting relaxation.
Each class begins with a warm up and ends with a cool down, which emphasize flexibility training.
No experience necessary.
